Not everyone visits Facebook, so I'm upping the signal.

My $0.02.

If the event gets banned (due to Government intervention), I will not be requesting a refund from PDXLAN. I will NOT contribute to the downfall of the greatest event to ever grace this earth. I know not everyone can do this, especially in this economy, but I urge others to consider this action.

I didn't figure Matt would even be able to offer one anyway. The money has already been spent on the venue so unless they are feeling charitable there won't be any money to give.

And yeah, even if one is offered I'd rather have future events than money now.

100% agree.

I would much rather forgo attending this time versus endangering anyone's life.
It's never really come up before, but I've always viewed my seats & hotel expenses as non-refundable unless I can find someone to sell/transfer to.

That being said, the time off is already allocated as well.
If this does end up being a canceled event I still plan to be on the Discord (https://discord.gg/pdxlan) that weekend and trying to get group games going.
(Spoiler: *Might* have some older graphics cards to give away for impromptu contests too. Nothing serious, but just fun...)

I was just reading the website and saw that the event might be postponed or cancelled, essentially bankrupting the event and cancelling all future ones. I really hope that it goes on as planned. PDXLAN is something that I have been attending religiously for the past 5 years and would dislike to see it crash and burn due to the media fear and hype. The virus spreads very easily and there is a very good chance that we will all end up with it, and get past it, just like the flu. Kind of like when we were kids and our parents purposely exposed us to chicken pox. Anyway, I hope to see you all Next month- if it does get cancelled, I'll be looking for last minute cruise deals for that weekend ;)

There is a difference between being cautious and saying it's all "media fear and hype."

There are many people that attend PDXLAN that are in compromised health conditions or if not, may spread the virus to those in compromised health conditions needlessly.

Downplaying the potential severity is a bad idea.

I would of course love to attend the event as usual with my group.

Maybe it kills off the whole world, ala Stephen King's The Stand.. Probably not. If the event goes on, I'll be there. There is really nothing we can do about it. I'd rather die gaming with you guys than alone in a cave
