PCIe m.2 expansion card question

Post by Mushoku » Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:46 am

Has anyone here had much experience with M.2 expansion cards?

My LAN rigs board only has one m.2 slot. I'm looking at adding additional from my main rig and have started looking around. I found the item linked and similar items on Amazon, but not sure if it'll try to lump everything into a raid or if they can still operate as individual drives.

Thoughts & recommendations are all welcome.

Thanks!

Looks like your mobo needs to support PCIe bifurcation if you want to use multiple drives in that adapter. If it does, it will present the drives separately to the system, you can RAID from there if you want, or use them individually.

Ah, good to know. I'll poke around and see if it offers that. Thank you!

Thanks for the heads up on that! I did some checking around and discovered that my board will not work with that card. I've switched gears to a different solution that should work. Thanks again!
