Re: PCIe m.2 expansion card question

Looks like your mobo needs to support PCIe bifurcation if you want to use multiple drives in that adapter. If it does, it will present the drives separately to the system, you can RAID from there if you want, or use them individually.

Re: memory XMP profile causing instability?

I've had mobo/memory combos that did not play well with the XMP loaded settings but worked fine if you manually set the exact same settings as the XMP profile. Give it a shot at least, see if you get lucky.

Re: When did you join PDX & why?

PDXLAN 8 was my first. I somehow stumbled across the forums looking for local used parts for sale, it was something like 2-3 weeks before the LAN and someone was selling their ticket on the cheap. I figured why not check out what these crazy people are up too. Was hooked (and awestruck) as soon as I...

Re: Apex 100% my CPU

Try running a 3dmark benchmark (Firestrike or Time Spy) and post up the results here. You can compare your score to other systems with the same CPU to see if there is a large performance delta.

Re: An Overheating Problem...Solved By Modding?

Yeah pretty sure those are just reading errors. Try another temp monitoring software to see if you get a different result, maybe AIDA64 or SpeedFan or Open Hardware Monitor.

Re: An Overheating Problem...Solved By Modding?

Unless you know those temps used to be significantly less, I suspect there is just an offset problem with HWMonitor reading those values incorrectly. There is no way you have a CPU temp of 36 C but some other component in a tiny case at 127 C, the gradient is too large I think. It's probably adding ...

Re: Help with new computer (2 problems)

As for my 2nd problem with the cables, I'm missing 2 of the cables. The speakers came with a green cable, orange cable and black cable. For whatever reason, the orange and black cable disappeared into the void never to be seen again. With only the green cable left, I can only get the front 2 speake...

Re: Help with new computer (2 problems)

Problem 1: You are trying to use a 10 year old OS with new hardware, and don't have any USB drivers. https://www.anandtech.com/show/11182/how-to-get-ryzen-working-on-windows-7-x64 I'd suggest a newer OS instead, but to fix you need to get the USB drivers loaded on the Win7 installer drive, there are...

Re: I need a Flex ATX 600 watt+ PSU

Enhance ENP-7660B 600W is the only 600w Flex ATX available now AFAIK. And that's pushing the limits of the form factor. Supposedly FPS has a 750w FSP750-50FGPH1 coming that's 190 MM long, but can't find any in the wild. Also 850w at 220 MM. This might help in your hunt: https://smallformfactor.net/n...

Re: Audio at 100% but still quiet.

Dunno, try reinstall of the latest version of the audio software from MSI, if that doesn't help try contacting MSI support I suppose.

I've never even seen that software, just happen to be good at guessing problems :D

Re: Audio at 100% but still quiet.

You mobo has a feature to automatically gauge the impedance of headphones, sounds like it is erroneously detecting your low impedance headphones as high. Poke around in the audio software to see if you can manually change it.

How would she feel about a Chromebook? There are some really affordable options out there, and it sounds like based on her needs it might be a perfect fit without all the typical OS stuff to worry about. Plus there are Chrome solitaire apps out there too, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/s...
