Re: Upgrade Monitor or Get Second?

I've been advised to go G-Sync on my nest monitor. If you can afford it, get it and use your current as a secondary :)

Re: Case suggestions?

I haven't built in either but a longtime builder friend of mine has always recommended Fractal Design R series to me, he uses the R5 and now R6 for most of his commission builds :) "Silent, very high quality, quite roomy, excellent aesthetics" Good luck and can't wait to see pictures :)

All of my games are on platters, my SSD is small so it's only for the OS :)

Re: Your current monitor(s)?

Funny, a friend of mine recommended that one just now :D He wants me to upgrade the monitor BEFORE I upgrade to a current-gen system... Currently running an Asus Gryphon Z87 with Thermal Armor with a i5 4670k with a Titan XP (Yes, I know) :) FYI on sale for $380 at BB right now: https://slickdeals....

Re: Your current monitor(s)?

They perform exaustive testing on virtually every monitor. They even provide color profiles and information on getting the most out of your monitor. The link I provided was to their analysis of the monitor I use. Very nice, I'll have to check them out when I'm in the market for a new monitor :) App...

Absolutely love it.
TFT Central is your friend, FYI.
I'll upgrade to 4k when a single GPU can handle it at frames I require.
Care to tell me more? I've never heard of the site :)

Re: Your current monitor(s)?

Umm, I wouldn't have a clue where to start on that...and a friend gave it to me so it seems rude to turn around and sell it? I`m sure that if you field a request for trade that some combos will come up that you'd like. But totally understandable that you want to keep it (it's a sweeet card!) since ...

Re: Your current monitor(s)?

Oh, that's a nice one! My current 24" is an FHD at 75Hz... As it is, I don't think I can fit another monitor on my desk, it's a smaller one :D Unless I did one vertical? I haven't gotten into vertical monitors personally, seems like a fine idea, but only my main one has a stand that'll do it, and I...

Re: Your current monitor(s)?

otherboard, I was stunned when I won it RIGHT after lan :) Right now, I know my Titan Xp Galactic Empire is being bottlenecked by the motherboard and CPU (Asus Gryphon Z87 with i5 4670k OC) but it's more stable FPS than on my previous build (Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 with an AMD FX 8120) I've bookmarked ...

Re: When did you join PDX & why?

I was introduced to the event in 2014 by some new friends I met at PAX Prime 2014 (friends of a friend I went with) and it sounded AMAZING but couldn't go. I didn't have a working desktop rig at that point, I built it in late 2015 from parts donated by friends/gifts from family but had to pack it aw...

Re: Your current monitor(s)?

I've been getting conflicting advice from friends...some say hardware upgrade before a monitor. Here's another complication: I won an Aorus Gaming 7 OP motherboard and know of a way to get an affordable i7 chip....so a monitor might cost more than buying a CPU and RAM for the board... wow, that's a...
